Pre-Budget Consultations 2012
ACEC Submission to the Standing Committee on Finance
Dear ACEC Members,
ACEC recently made its annual pre-budget submission to the federal Standing Committee on Finance. The Committee is planning to hold its public hearings on the 2012 pre-budget consultations when Parliament resumes in the fall of 2012. Hearings will be held in Ottawa and in designated Canadian cities.
The consultations will result in a report to be tabled in the House of Commons in December 2012 and the suggestions of Canadians as well as the recommendations of the Committee will be considered by the Minister of Finance in the development of the 2013 federal budget.
The Committee was interested in hearing the views of individuals and groups on four key issues:
- Economic Recovery and Growth
- Job Creation
- Demographic Change
- Productivity
Stakeholders were asked to respond to four issue-related questions with answers for each limited to 350 words. This year, for the first time, pre-budget submissions were delivered in an electronic format.
ACEC has used this opportunity to reinforce the association’s messaging on infrastructure.
