Infrastructure Ontario made a strategic decision to pursue LEED Canada EB:O&M Platinum certification for Robinson Place, a 21,368 m2 government building in Peterborough, Ontario. Unlike other LEED certifications, LEED EB:O&M focuses on the operation and maintenance phase of an existing building’s lifecycle. Morrison Hershfield, as prime consultant, engineered many sustainability initiatives aimed at increasing energy efficiency, conserving water and contributing to a healthier work environment. Efforts resulted in an ENERGY STAR score of 89, and the landmark achievement of becoming the first government building to achieve LEED EB:O&M Platinum in Canada.
