The World Trade Center Transportation Hub (Oculus) pushes the boundaries of structural engineering. COWI North America applied bridge engineering methods for the successful construction of this unique building. A free cantilever segmental erection scheme allowed for a significant reduction in falsework and provided opportunities for geometry adjustments where needed. Applying bridge engineering concepts and first principles allowed this complex structure to be constructed safely and accurately.
