Celebrate National Engineering Month by showcasing your projects with: Bring an MP to Work

Take advantage of the opportunity to have an MP visit your engineering projects to showcase your contribution to the social, economic and environmental quality of life in Canada.

Members of Parliament, whether as backbenchers, part of Parliamentary committees or as a Minister, play an important role in the development of public policies and programs that impact the business and regulatory climate for the consulting engineering sector. Yet most of them don’t know the valuable contribution you make to their riding through the exciting projects your firm is working on. ACEC wants to change that!

ACEC wants to give you the opportunity to have an MP visit your engineering projects to showcase your contribution to the social, economic and environmental quality of life in Canada. Why not raise the visibility of your firm in your own community and nationally by showcasing your amazing projects to Members of Parliament and highlighting the importance of consulting engineers to a vibrant community?

So take part in this campaign that has already garnered great success...

Arrow Engineering, a joint member firm of ACEC-Canada and Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA) is an Edmonton-based engineering firm that works on a wide and diverse range of projects across Western Canada, Ontario, and the North. They were the first organization to sign-up and eagerly take part in the campaign.

With help from ACEC’s government relations partner Impact Public Affairs, Arrow invited two Members of Parliament, Michael Cooper (St. Albert-Edmonton), and Matt Jeneroux (Edmonton Riverbend), to tour the Stanley A. Milner Library revitalization project with Arrow President & CEO Greg Burghardt. Tour participants were also welcomed to the site by Clark Builders.

After first opening its doors in 1967, this centralized branch of the Edmonton Public Library (EPL) was renamed in 1996 in honour of library champion Stanley A. Milner. Situated in the heart of Edmonton the library garners over 1.2 million visits each year and is part of an award-winning library system. During the estimated 3-year renewal and revitalization project, the library will undergo a substantial transformation and will serve as a fundamental component of Edmonton’s future economic growth.

The tour provided Arrow with the opportunity to raise the visibility of their firm in their own community and nationally by showcasing this amazing project to their local MPs while highlighting the importance of the consulting engineering sector.

“We recently worked with ACEC to organize a tour of a project we’re extremely proud of – the Stanley Milner Library revitalization in downtown Edmonton. Touring this project with several MP’s gave us a unique opportunity to showcase the challenges and opportunities that our industry faces in working on public projects. We owe ACEC a huge thanks for helping us to organize this event, and look forward to working with them on similar initiatives moving forward.”

How it Works

Bring an MP to Work campaign requires no prior political experience. We’ll do all the heavy lifting for you! All you have to do is fill out this form and return it to ACEC’s government relations partner Impact Public Affairs who will work with you and your client to facilitate a tour of your project. They will reach out to the Member of Parliament, organize the visit, and provide you with all the tools you’ll need to make the visit a success.

If you have one or more projects across the country, we can facilitate a visit by the local Member of Parliament from those ridings as well.
