PWGSC Consultation (via MERX)

Dear ACEC Member Firm:

ACEC Member Firms have been invited by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) to provide feedback on its Real Property contracting practices.

Your firm can respond in three ways:

  1. Send comments directly to ACEC
  2. Respond directly to the Request for Information posted on MERX
  3. Participate in the cross Canada consultation process

Send Comments to ACEC

In an effort to save ACEC Member Firms time, ACEC has reviewed the 500 page Request for Information and has pulled the most relevant section: Annex A, Questions to Industry (only 4 pages) and the introduction (8 pages). Please click here in order to access the questions. Responses can be sent directly to Susie Grynol, ACEC’s Vice-President of Policy and Public Affairs at sgrynol@acec.ca. For your reference, the full Request for Information document can be found here. Please send us your comments by Friday, February 25, 2011.

Respond using MERX

Those wishing to respond using MERX should visit http://www.merx.com and search EP008-112560/A.

The deadline for comments is March 28, 2011 at 2:00PM EST.

Respond by Attending Cross Canada Consultations

ACEC firms are also invited to participate in sessions as part of PWGSC’s cross Canada consultation.

  • February 8, 2011: Edmonton
  • February 10, 2011: Vancouver
  • February 15, 2011: Halifax
  • February 17, 2011: Montreal
  • February 22, 2011: Toronto
  • February 24, 2011: Ottawa/Gatineau

Locations for these sessions will be announced at a later date.

Those who wish to participate in these sessions should express interest by Tuesday, February 1st, 2011. You can do so by contacting PWGSC at ConsultationsDDR.RFIRegistrations@tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca.

Respondents are requested to provide a list of the individuals from their organization who would be attending (limit of 3 per organization) and the location of their choice to attend the consultations, as identified above. PWGSC will advise in due course on the detailed consultation schedules and location.

Note that ACEC has been invited to appear as part of the Industry Association Consultation early in March 2011 to bring a global perspective on behalf of all firms. All comments sent directly to ACEC, will be considered as ACEC drafts its industry position.

Note: ACEC will be approaching PWGSC to suggest that MERX may not be the best vehicle to advertise a Request for Information from industry. It will also raise concern regarding the length of the questionnaire (500 pages), and the limited time frame within which firms have been asked to respond.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
