Dear ACEC members:

Yesterday, the federal government made its long-awaited announcement on the New Building Canada Fund (NBCF), a $14 billion fund that “will support projects of national, regional and local significance that promote economic growth, job creation and productivity.”

I was invited to attend the announcement delivered by Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Infrastructure Minister Denis Lebel. The government unveiled the policy framework for the fund, and terms and conditions will be specified by the end of March. Applications for funding will be accepted starting April 1st.

ACEC and the Canadian Construction Association issued a joint press release indicating that the consulting engineering and construction sectors welcome the announcement and look forward to providing input to inform development of the NBCF terms and conditions, including an efficient application process for projects and P3s screen process.

For details about the NBCF – a component of the New Building Canada Plan – please visit Infrastructure Canada’s website.
