ACEC's Budget 2019 Update
On March 19, Finance Minister Bill Morneau rose in the House of Commons to present the federal government’s budget for 2019. As the government positions itself for the fall election, this budget continues their plan to invest in the middle class through programs primarily focused on affordable housing, skills training, and implementing national pharmacare. While the government reaffirmed its previous infrastructure commitments and local infrastructure and First Nations communities will receive new funding, there was no new spending or “big-ticket items” related to sectors such as natural resources or infrastructure.
