The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies - Canada (ACEC) is a not-for profit organisation that has been the voice of Canadian consulting engineering companies since it was founded in 1925.
We represent the commercial interests of businesses that provide professional engineering services, to both the public and the private sector. Our members' services include planning, designing and implementing all types of engineering projects, and providing independent advice and expertise in a wide range of engineering-related fields.
ACEC's member companies directly influence virtually every aspect of the economic, social, and environmental quality of life of Canadians. Because engineering is a regulated profession, every individual employed by our members is required by law to act "with fidelity to the public interest."
ACEC is governed by close to 400 members: independent consulting engineering companies, organised into 12 provincial and territorial Member Organizations. We are a member of the Fédération Internationale d’Ingénieurs Conseils (FIDIC), the global voice of consulting engineering.
The ACEC logo evokes a maple leaf encircled by the engineers’ Iron Ring – a recognized and respected symbol of the engineers’ great responsibility and duty to the public. In this vein, ACEC member firms aspire to be the trusted advisors to their clients – relied upon for innovative, sustainable solutions to some of society’s greatest challenges. The ring was designed with 12 discrete elements representing each of our provincial and territorial Member Organizations.
The resultant abstract presentation of the ring also suggests both a globe on its axis and a sense of motion and change. This represents the talented, business-minded professionals who apply their knowledge and expertise to improve quality of life for Canadians and the broader international community.
A successful, trusted and sustainable consulting engineering industry.
Promoting a business environment that recognises and rewards our members’ expertise and contributions to society.
These strategic priorities represent ACEC’s purpose and the core activities we undertake as an organisation.
