About ACEC

Who We Are

The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies - Canada (ACEC) is a not-for profit organisation that has been the voice of Canadian consulting engineering companies since it was founded in 1925.

We represent the commercial interests of businesses that provide professional engineering services, to both the public and the private sector. Our members' services include planning, designing and implementing all types of engineering projects, and providing independent advice and expertise in a wide range of engineering-related fields.

ACEC's member companies directly influence virtually every aspect of the economic, social, and environmental quality of life of Canadians. Because engineering is a regulated profession, every individual employed by our members is required by law to act "with fidelity to the public interest."

ACEC is governed by close to 400 members: independent consulting engineering companies, organised into 12 provincial and territorial Member Organizations.

A successful, trusted and sustainable consulting engineering industry.

Promoting a business environment that recognises and rewards our members’ expertise and contributions to society.

Strategic Priorities

These strategic priorities represent ACEC’s purpose and the core activities we undertake as an organisation.

Advocating for Members

ACEC Influences the federal government and collaborates with national stakeholders to create a public policy and business climate that creates opportunity and prosperity for consulting engineering companies, their business partners and clients accross all sectors.

ACEC promotes the use and mandating of business practices, including qualifications-based procurement and contracts, that offer consulting engineering firms and their buisness partners a fair and appropriate sharing of risk and reward.

Profile Building

ACEC increases the stature and influence of the association and its member firms amongst national influencers and decision-makers by showcasing the impact of consulting engineers’ contributions to Canada’s social, economic and environmental quality of life.

ACEC increases the stature and influence of the association and its member firms, business partners and clients by leading national discourse on topics of common interest.

Providing Value to Members

ACEC delivers value to member firms through programs and services that support their business needs and those of their employees.

Increasing Diversity

ACEC commits itself to concrete action toward diversity and inclusion of gender, backgrounds, perspectives, and expertise within the leadership of ACEC and promotes the need for, and the benefits of, diversity and inclusion in decision-making throughout the consulting engineering sector.
